About Dan Dixon
I’m a lifelong Millville resident, born and raised on Broad Street. My father, Dale Dixon, has deep roots in this community, and I’m proud to continue that tradition. I attended Holly Heights School and Millville High School before pursuing higher education at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University), where I studied physical education.
My career began in the nursery business at age 24. I worked in various roles—customer service manager, sales representative, sales manager, and purchasing and brokerage manager—for several large nurseries before starting my own nursery sales company in 1997.
In 2007, I followed my passion for martial arts and fitness by opening my own gym. For over 20 years, I have trained police and law enforcement officers in defensive tactics. I am also a sport performance coach for amateur and professional athletes and a personal trainer to many individuals who aspire to live their strongest, healthiest lives.
Since then, I have become the highest-ranking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach in the area and am on track to receive my 4th-degree black belt this November. I have also dedicated myself to becoming the most knowledgeable exercise professional locally. In 2019, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Concordia University, St. Paul. I continued my education by earning two Master’s degrees—one in Exercise Science and another in Clinical Human Performance. Currently, I’m pursuing a PhD in Health Sciences and will begin my dissertation phase this spring.
I am married to Tara Dixon (Beebe), another lifelong Millville resident. I have four children: Dain (33), Connor (29), Mason (19), and Ilana (15). I am also a proud grandfather to Deanna, Oliver, and Daemon.
Wherever I have worked and whatever I have done, I have worked to be the best at what I do. Working in city government will be no different. I plan to bring passion, energy, intelligence, and creativity to the city with fresh ideas to lead Millville toward a brighter future.
Do I have experience in city government? No. But experienced politicians have been at the helm for the past 20 years, and look where that has gotten us. What Millville needs is new ideas and renewed passion with the courage to do the difficult things to improve the city.
I recognize the seriousness of the position. As a homeowner and business owner in Millville, my life depends on the health and viability of this city. I promise to you, the voters, to put all of my energy into making this city the best it has ever been.
However, I can’t do this alone—I need your ideas, your input as well to make this work. I don’t have all the answers, but there is nothing we can’t achieve, no problem too big when we all work together.
Reach out to me with your ideas and your concerns. I will always listen and be respectful. We may not always agree, but I promise to listen and always do what I think is best for this great city.
